Xcelerator & More – Knott’s Berry Farm Update – March 27, 2018

Alexander: Welcome to our third and final (and BIGGEST) Knott’s Berry Farm update this week, where we’ll cover everything besides the Boysenberry Festival and HangTime.

– Over the years, many of our images have popped up on other sites and forums, awesome that our coverage spreads, not so awesome that not everyone mentioned where they got the images from. We are totally fine with our audience using our images, BUT ONLY IF credit is given to californiacoasterkings.com. Thank you!

Yay! I just can’t get enough Knott’s.

Before going into the park, Sean took me to visit the new Soak City stuff.

I’ve never actually been to Soak City. It sure looks nice, though.

Spring is in the air! We saw this mother and her ducklings near the picnic area.

ALL – RIDES – OPEN

I see you, Boysenberry Festival! I see you, HangTime! You guys had your spotlight! Time to focus on the rest of the park now.

Resident thrill-coaster workhorse, Silver Bullet, finally got its partner in crime back this week!

That’s right! Xcelerator has made its much-anticipated return to the line!

We’ll be over there momentarily to take our first rides in nearly a year!

But first, a little more Fiesta Village love:

One of Jaguar‘s trains has red trim now.

Ok, XCELERATOR TIME.

Be still, my heart.

Inside of its 10-month hiatus, Xcelerator did receive a tiny spot of fresh paint.

Xcelerator’s red has aged about as well as one could have hoped, but at this point in this game, the rust is setting in. Maybe some fresh paint will come in time for the ride’s 20th anniversary?

Ever-fresh-looking Silver Bullet is already on its 2nd lifetime coat of paint.

And now, over a decade after its debut, is enjoying the use of a 3rd train now, too.

Silver Bullet‘s shoulders are sore from carrying this park for almost a year.

Iron Reef is holding up well. As it enters its 4th year, it’s somehow in better shape than the less-than-a-year-old Justice League: Battle for Metropolis just up the road.

Ok, back to Xcelerator.

Let’s go for a ride on Sky Cabin and see if we can get lucky with some Xcelerator shots!

We got lucky with Silver Bullet and Montezooma’s Revenge.

Don’t let Xcelerator‘s return distract you from the first (and still best) launched coaster in SoCal. <3

GhostRider is business as usual: tedious, overlong queue with sluggish dispatches, but a performance good enough to compensate (i.e. every wooden coaster in China).

Not the view-from-the-top photo of Xcel we’d hoped for, but not a bad showing of our efforts.

Upskrrrrt

Take-off.

Of *course* we rode Timber Mountain Log Ride.

More Silver Bullet

Cuz Xcel being open is great and all, but this is still the more-fun coaster to photograph.

*…when will my reflection show who I am insiiiide?*

When you line up that good shot of a ride and there’s an empty seat in the front row.  -_-

What’s happening here?

Sol Spin is broken. No surprise here.

They “maintenance mode”d people off of the ride, closed it, tested it, and re-opened it. I finally got my first ride (which I quite enjoyed), and the experience was bookended with another breakdown. Super.

Montezooma’s Revenge: the greatest invention since Mexican Street Corn.

When you practically dump out the entire contents of your bag fumbling with your camera in time to get the perfect shot.

On March/Aprils, we wear purple.

If you came here looking for a picture of Xcelerator that’ll make you glad you put in the effort, this is probably as close as you’re gonna get.

You might be thinking “I can’t believe Knott’s went through the trouble of keeping this thing around.” That’s lowkey what I was thinking, but then I rode it again.

Xcelerator will always be worth the trouble.

That concludes our trio of Knott’s Berry Farm updates! We hope you got your boysenberry and big-steel-monster fix!
